Throughout history, societies have constructed narratives that serve to reinforce their identities, comfort their conscience, and justify their actions. In Western contexts, particularly among predominantly white populations, there exists a pervasive oblivion to the darker chapters of history that have shaped their privilege and prosperity. This article aims to critically examine the impact of historical narratives on contemporary attitudes and behaviors, particularly concerning racial inequities, and to challenge white individuals to take responsibility for acknowledging and rectifying the injustices perpetuated by their forebears.
